Over the years, Eden has been very consistent with their food. For vegetarians there are few better places than this. I never like spending lots on Veggie foods, but for once I was impressed with everything that we ordered. From the Cheese Rolls to the Indian Breads to the Indian Curries everything was exquisite. Service is also extremely quick. Their pasta was delicious as well. Getting a seat is a bit of a problem on some days and parking is a bit of a hassle but still their food and service deserve repeat visits.
I have been to Eden a zillion times since it started and I have only one word. "Consistent". Many restaurants are too good when they start but after 6 months their food and quality deteriorates. Eden is definitely not one among them. Their food tastes good. Their service is prompt. Their quality is good too. Standalone factor - even when there is a long queue waiting outside, neither do they let another group share your table nor do they hurry you to leave. They let you enjoy your meal. Yesterday we had cheese rolls, chilli garlic mint naan, paneer paratha, roti, paneer methi kofta and almonds forever. Cheese rolls - 2 pieces and a little french fries at Rs. 150. Just 2 rolls makes it look like the quantity is less. But the quality of the cheese rolls - totally worth it. Large sized rolls filled with very tasty cheese. Good blend of flavours. Chilli garlic mint naan - Good naan. Mint over powers. Found just one or two pieces of garlic and an occasional bite on the chillies. Good naan. However too many flavours. Was just average. Paneer paratha - definitely not the good old punjabi parathas but definitely good enough compared to what is served in most restaurants at Chennai. Paneer methi kofta - mildly spiced, 5 medium sized koftas - very tasty must say. Almonds forever - I like ice creams. Can never complain. It was good but nothing that made me rave about it. All above at Rs.685 including taxes. Food - 3/5 Service - 3.5/5 Ambiance - 2.5/5 VFM - 3.5/5
One of the first few pure veg restaurants to hit chennai, Eden instantly became a family favorite. Given an opportunity to head out, we would go straight to Eden. The first few times had us visiting the besant nagar branch and subsequently we have been frequenting the one in Hotel Harrisons. The order is quite fixed, pumpkin soup, mushroom on toast or bharwan paneer. While the paneer melts in our mouth, we are already dreaming of the risotto and the Mushroom crepes which become our main course order. The family shares a word or two in between bites, enjoying each mouthful, the simple subtle yet visible flavors. And finally, to finish the meal, we go for the streaking kahlua or the pralines from heaven. If you dont mind experimenting, give the Curry leaf rice with a tender coconut & cashew curry a try. A meal that not only has us smiling, but leaves our tummies happy and content. Quite friendly on the pocket too. :-) Overall rating= 9/10
The most overrated eat-out in Besant Nagar! I've been to this place a few times and I've tried out all their continental dishes. Might sound like a lot, but no. They 've got very few dishes, and all of them taste just the same. They love their Bechamel sauce so much that it's the main component in all their dishes. Their starters are alright, but other than that, nothing's impressive. The dishes are priced slightly on the higher side, given the quality and taste. Prior reservation is mandatory, as it takes quite a while to get seats on weekends.
For a non-veggie like me, going to a pure veg restaurant always gives me a sense of not belonging. But this is one restaurant that makes me feel that veggies have got a choice - Eden!!!At first glance you may miss this shack on the first floor building on 2nd avenue besant nagar, but you would sure get back to it once you taste the food. Its pure excellence. The continental cuisine is just about ok. The tandoor is good.Overall a nice place for a calm dinner on a sunday evening.be sure to get there early or book in advance, or be ready to wait for atleast an hour on weekends.
