  • Good food but very small variety

I had first gone to Sigree with my family, all four of us. We reached there at about 8:30. When we reached there, the decor looked pretty good from the outside. We had reservations, so there was no delay when we reached. The waiter directed us to our seats and we sat, little knowing what was going to follow.

The custom at Sigree is, that they serve you almost cooked starters on skewers. There is a hole in the middle of your table, which is filled by a box that the waiter brings over. The box is filled with coal and lit, so that you can barbecue the rest of your starters at your table, by yourself. The funny thing was, that there was a huge fan right behind us, which meant that absolutely all of the heat given by the coals was blown away, leaving the starters neither fully cooked, nor heated.
We tried to explain this to the waiter.
First, he tried to convince us that that was not the case, at which point my father told the waiter in a no nonsense voice that he too made barbecues at home, and that these weren't the ideal conditions to do so.
Next, he told us that we could switch our tables if we wanted to, but we could not get the fan switched off. Since we had just been seated, we did not mind doing so. The waiter said that he would go and set up our new table, and disappeared for 5 minutes.
Then suddenly, the fan behind us was switched off and there was no more mention of us moving, other than a ,"The other tables are reserved."

Okay, so we were comfortably seated with no fan on us. The problem was that there still wasn't enough heat being generated by the coal. Maybe the quantity of coal was running down. We told the waiter this, and he removed the skewered starters from above the box, and took them away who knows where. A few minutes later, instead of the box being taken away, another waiter appeared and started placing skewers on the box, as if we had just arrived. We were shell shocked, and I could not contain myself; I started laughing in front of the guy. After explaining everything once again to the new guy, he took the box away, topped up the coal, brought it back, and served our starters.

By this point, we were pretty frustrated, so the starters better be good. They were, which went a long way in tempering our moods. The boneless chicken was spicy, but the others like like the paneer tikka, were fantastic. My mocktail, the Pina Colada was incredible too.

Next, we moved to the buffet. The tastes were good here too, but the buffet, sadly was very small. Just three non-veg dishes and three or four veg ones. Apart from that, there was salad, and desserts. The desserts were not exceptional, nor was the salad.

The place is also on the expensive side, which is funny, considering it's nothing great or different from any other grill place. In fact, I would strongly recommend going to Barbecue Nation instead of Sigree.

In any case, if I were to go to Sigree again, I would definitely opt out of the Barbecue Buffet. Maybe the a la carte served inside is slightly better.
