Too Cramped
With the thought of traversing half of Pune to get to the food district, we decided to hang out around Aund, which was convenient to all. Being a Saturday night and taking a clue from a friend who had advised that we book ourselves a table, we did and thank god we did. We arrived just in time for our reservation and were led to our table immediately. It was a small corner in the lowest level of the lounge with low seating, dim lighting, lots of pillows the works, making the ambience near perfect. The not so prefect started when the tables close to ours started filling up, leaving us packed like sardines in a tin.
The food was good for a place that’s a lounge and decently priced as well. We treated ourselves to Fried wontons (nice and crisp; Rs. 165), Chilly Potato (basically French fries doused with some sweet sauce, no chilly at all; Rs. 75), Chin Mai Chicken (Chicken tossed in ginger garlic sweet sauce; Rs. 165), Schwezan style lamb (Very good; Rs.180) and lastly some Murgh Chatpata (Chicken Tikka but with Chat masala; Rs. 165). The portions can easily feed a group of 4. The menu also boasted a smallish dinner section, one that we didnt try out. The combination of cigarette and sweet Hooka smoke had left us with the need for some fresh air...
The drinks menu is elaborate with the usual shots, mocktails, cocktails, hard liquor, beer and juices. What did seem missing was wine, a shame since India now produces good quality wines. We started off with a pitcher of Mojitos (Rs. 799), followed it up with a pitcher of Blackcurrant Margarita (Rs. 799 and way too sweet), followed it up with a pitcher of Abra Ca Dabra - a cocktail with Vodka and Blue Curacao, and ended the night with a flourish with a round of B52.
As deadlines go, Kiva's DJ played the last song around 11.20 and it was time for us to bid adieu
Would I go there again? I guess I might. I do hope though that next time around they have wine on the menu.
