The old city comprises of the seventeen Peths or localities. These Peths form the heart of the city and ironically, are quite developed. A score of popular restaurants, cafes and temples are located here. Budhwar Peth is popular for the electronic stores and Ganesha temples whereas Shukurwar Peth flaunts the Raja Dinkar Keikar Museum. Ravivar Peth has a number of jewellery shops and Mangalwar Peth has the very popular market, Juna Bazaar located here. Shaniwar Wada, the historic fort, is also located in the Old City at Shaniwar Peth and Mandai, the historic market is sited in Shukrawar Peth.
