Still SINNING Under d banyan tree

D HUNT: My sis in law (my co-burrp partner) & myself decided to lunch & the foodie that she is, she wudn't dare to go to any other place without having read bout it on BURRP before. So just as we were wondering where to stop over for a quick lunch. she started racking her white matter in the brain n from the crevices in there she drew out a name BANYAN TREE. Since it was already 3pm we weren't sure would they still be serving in. We got their number from just dail n called them up for directions as we approached the place. The guy who picked the phone was very prompt n accurate wit his directions, coz we found the place in flat 3 mins without much looking around. Its simple u see, Just enter the lane n look for the biggest banyan tree on the road !!!!.. Trust me thats where it getz it's name from.

D AMBIENCE: Anyway just as u enter the place there is a small little rectangular non a/c space outside where u find people sitting & having the bakery items this place offers. Then as u enter the restaurant, its horizontally divided on a step up. we went higher up n took the corner table. The ambience has all dark brown, beige & cream shades. It has a very calm n serene feel to it. On every table they have small table piece very innovatively done up. I say that coz i have'nt seen a plant in a test tube before!!. & then that test tube placed on a lovely dark wood stand. As u enter u find this black board to ur left stating the special's of d day. Lovely pink, white n beige paper lantern around d place, a plasma screen screening the match also exists.

D ORDER: My sis in law refused to order anything without refreshing her memory after going thru what others had burrped here. So as my bro n me started glancing thru d menu card, she started trying her luck at getting connected to burrp thru my cel. I ordered for a oreo classic & chargrilled chicken with creamy paprika sauce (slurrp I thought to myself). My bro called for a chicken scotch broth soup (ya u read right its SCOTCH itself !!!!) n a new zeleander drink. The waiter continued to look at my sis in law, n she kept searchin for burrp still, she refused to place d order without reading (now thats called being a brand ambasador for BURRP!!! )
Well, after all the reading by our fellow burrpers she enlightened us on changing that soup to BT MINESTRONE. So we asked the waiter to do so.. n well he did that without any fussing. Then madam placed her order of herbed grill chicked in pepper mushroom sauce.

SERVICE N CROWD: It turned out to be a total non crowded types, very unlikely on a sunday afternoon. Since our fellow burrpers said that we shouldn't expect our order anytime before 2 hrs, we had framed r minds not to leave this place before 5pm, but I beg to differ with every other review on this page. Coz our order was on the table within flat 1/2 hr. Probably we would regard it to the scanty population in this place ystrdy. After all there were only 3 other couples besides us.

TASTE: Now talking bout the main part. the yummy delicious, breathtaking, scintillating, mouth watering, lip smacking, amazing, classic meal that i would'nt forget at least for a while. There came the main course. Very well garnished with just bout enough sauce, served with a choice of mashed potato or rice ( we opted for the 1st) The chicken in both the paprika & the herb was very well marinated. The difference in both was even though the sauces were so diverse, so was d marination. With every morsel of herbed chicken d succulent pieces of chicken had the lime n herb flavour just cutting through the dip of the pepper mushroom sauce.
What I liked the most is the marination, coz every other place would have just steamed the chicken seperately n placed on a diff sauce base, but this was very differently done up. After talking bout so much of chicken i musnt leave out my lovely oreo classic which my bro jus jumped n snapped on leaving his new zelaender. Well, u cant compare both, their entirely different but both lovely n classic. New zeleander has a mixed fruity flavour of green apples & kiwi and oreo of course our famous OREO cookies on a cream base.. Not forgetting the soup that we had called for, agian very sharp blend of spices with exotoc italian flavours summed it all up for it. We ate, ate.. ate.. n ate some more.. I guess one review here says - U can never be wrong to order anything, thats true. eveyrthin im sure is sumptuous here.

DESSERT TIME: Following our foodies bible (burrp) we ordered for the GOOEY CHOC PASTRY... and there... divine... sinful...exotic... amazing.. bliss...its cutlery licking types... i cant think of any more words to describe what it tastes like. Its this soft textured choc just melts. Its a sin to go here n not eat this.

DAMAGES: The price we paid for this awesome meal : 996(incl taxes)

SATISFACTION : Trust me .. r stomach's were full.. but not the desire.. wish we could fit in some more.. The flavours still ting-a-ling even i write this. Pls make it here burrpers.. or else ur missing on some authentic food.

Good

one shop Dhaba

My husband & i were in prabhadevi 2 days back on work, when we realised our stomachs were talking n growling. To my luck, since prabhadevi is not much of a foodie place that i know off, at last i had the excuse to try out this dhaba.Luckily i had a driver that day cos theres no much parking space n its a tow away zone.

I stood in front of downtown wondering why did he call it a dhaba.....well the approach to the place is shabby n so is the ambience (there wasnt any ambience infact!!).But jus like all foodies belief its d food n not the ambience that matters. Not suitable for classy foodies.

Jus 4 tables placed, I was a little hesistant to enter, but the reviews of fellow burrpers gave me confidence to go ahead.A dark kitchen with gud no. of cooks at work, as i write this review i sit back to think if these cooks were worth trusting.....cos they kept chopping n chopping.

The owner gave us the menu n we were amazed at the variety n prices.Without scrutinising the place further I ordered for rajma masala, dal tadka, chkn kadai, jeera rice n rotis. After contemplating i decided to order for sweet lassi......delicious thick lassi. Food was homely not typical in restaurants.Flavour of Chicken kadai n buttery rajma was yummy....

Damage for 2 was 280/- A lot of office staff have lunch here. His shop next door specialises in chinese cuisine My husband was suprised tht he nevr knew of this place before.

Its a gud place to stop for a quick meal....not a run after kind of place.
Though apprehensive in the begining, I walked out of the dhaba happy n content. My mission was accomplished as a FOODIE.........No regrets!!!

Bushi Gaon, INS Shivaji Rd, Enroute to Amby Valley, Navi Mumbai

Average

eer.. Its a 50-50

A total must go if u ever land up to the nearest hill station, lonavala. ON the road to ambey u find this place to the left hand side, plying load music, like a small typical shack in goa (of course minus d amazing beach) This place is owned by a couple, wife a famous model & husband a renowned photgrapher n add filmmaker. they just one find day got fed up of their same routine life in mumbai n went to lonavala n set up this shack. The wife cooks herself & d husband offers to take people on a trek to the dam.. etc.. She initially sounded a bit too curt wit people at d entrance. Guess she's too skeptical to let any one in, owing to the drunk youth crowd bushy dam side. So she makes it a point to screen every customer who enters in. BUt once she was sure of our genuinity, she behaved pretty well hospitable.. sounded a bit too sugar coated n artificial n after a while i was kinda erked too.. anyway..
I went here with my family, in d aftrn, thought id make it here for lunch but that was a total bad decision. Coz this plc is meant to jus chill, relax, enjoy d whether.. n eat leisurely.
Anyway. The woman handles this plc single handedly (jus one help - francis). A very non conventional kinda place.
the ambiance of the place is totally cool. the ceiling shows lovely colorful dupattas tied. It has just bout 4 tables, with chairs to sit ( which u have to take urself) They play loud music which sounds like world space sattellite. She offers hookah to vile time away..
The menu offers a variety from BBQ stuff to lovely italian meals.. but u need to remember that for all that to come to ur table is going to take ages.. So dont expect fast service at all when u go here. & i must warn u their prices are EXORBITANT.. The place screams ' SELF SERVICE" After she finishes preparing what u've asked for she jus calls out.
We ordered for 2 chicken sandwiches, 1 coffee & 1 fries. No doubt bout the exotic taste of the stuff she prepared. I vouch that she's an awesome cook. The damages were bout 1800/-.. phew.. I warned u bout d expense. Didnt i ??? well, d only incentive she informed us about is d 50% off she offers people who are members of rainmakers community on facebook. So incase u go here n like d place please do become a member for ur next visits..
Her kitchen is open for u to move around n take a peak when she prepares what u want. She also has loadsa books which u can just sit n read n enjoy d rains.
But as i said earlier this is not a plc to glut. So it's jus perfect to enjoy d clouds in lonavla, order for a hookah, read a book, sip on a hot cofeee n relax.. probably a lovely plc for some soul searching... e heehe ;)
Its definately worth d visit. We found this place after the coverage they got in d mumbai mirror in their anniversary issue. I guess they r a little over-hyped. But apparently i realized that they are already pretty famous among beer buddies of college gangs that make frequent trips that side.
So its a mix of equal gud n bad.. so u take a pic...

Poor

Just as the name: Nothing clear

Just as my review tittle says, the places is MYSTY.. has nothin clear. AS u enter d place the 1st thing that will come to ur mind will be darkness.. he ehe.. jus kidding. The ambiance of d place is cool. Lit in d dim light of candles, it's an apt place to spend some cozy time with that special one. Small floating candles are placed on the table. The waiter comes n lights it as soon as d table's occupied. They offer u 2 kinda seatings. The normal table chair arrangement & also the deewan type with nice cushions. The ambiance screams a lot of WOOD, from the table to the chairs, to d lightings.. d works.. to keep the place cool, they have kept on trolleys the air coolers, they don't really help coz the blow of the coolers is so hard that it blows the candle off & practically everything on the table from the table cloth to the menu card to our hair to even d clothes.. so it becomes a bit to difficult to manage. Also since d blowers were directed towards one of my friends she was frozen even before our starters arrived. Then we requested a shifted to d deewan area, which was better.
U better have some awesome eyesight to figure out what's on d menu coz of the very little light they offer. u can barely see.
I went there with 2 of my close friends, we ordered for a pasta, some starters & 3 cocktails.. the drinks were fab, the service quick. The food also good.
Reading the cockroach reviews of my fellow burrpers I was a bit skeptical when my friends suggested this place, but i still took courage to enter coz i had some other people giving me good reviews. I wouldn't deny the fact that the place is dingy coz its too dark, so obviously if u cant manage to read the menu how can u spot a cockroach,.. so thats a little scary.
But the ambiance is lovely, & so is the food... so i guess its worth taking courage..
